The average American household subscribes to 5 different magazines (I wonder how they have time to read all of them). But, nonetheless, its a fact. Your FFA chapter can profit from this. You can set up your own webpage to sell magazine subscriptions online. You have no inventory to hold on to, no money to collect & no order forms to collect. When you sign up, you are given your very own online store, which offers your customers the choice of well over 600 popular magazine titles. You will profit 40% of the subscription price. If you have 100 FFA members, with each one selling 5 subscriptions (average profit of $6.25 each) , that would equal a payoff of approximately $3100.00 - for relatively no work on your part. The only thing you might do is create a flyer to help your students promote the fundraiser.

Plus, if you have a chapter website, you can place your banner ad (which redirects to your magazine store) on your homepage, which can make it easy for your visitors to purchase, as well.

My chapter has signed up on this. We have actually bought some magazine subscriptions for our classrooms through this program and made a little money back in return.

You can see our store here:

http://www.supportourgroup.com/ZM3524

Click on the magazine banner below or visit the "Magazine Fundraiser" subpage found on the "Need A Fundraiser?" page for more information.

Sell Lollipops As a Supplemental Fundraiser

http://www.ideas4ag-ed.com/1/post/2010/10/sell-lollipops-as-a-supplemental-fundraiser.html

http://www.ideas4ag-ed.com/1/post/2010/10/sell-lollipops-as-a-supplemental-fundraiser.html#comments

Uncategorized

I know a lot of us are engaged in our fall fundraisers right now...whatever that might be. I figured it couldn't hurt, as "suckers" last quite a long time. I sold 60 lollipops in a day and a half, just to my students at the end of every class. I was quite shocked at how fast they sold. Since we can only hold a couple of fundraisers per year, our advisory committee will be sponsoring this fundraiser and our members will be selling these during their classes. The money raised will go towards the expense of our state FFA convention at the end of March.

Even though you will only being making a .25 profit on each lollipop sold, you would be surprised to see how fast this will add up...especially with several kids participating. You will profit $144.00 per case sold.

If this interests you, click on the banner below to order one of their fundraising catalogs or to begin this fundraiser, click on the FastTrack Fundraising logo, find the "Fundraising by Product" section and click on the "Everlasting Lollipop Fundraiser" link to get started now.

Free CDE Resources from the National FFA

http://www.ideas4ag-ed.com/1/post/2010/10/free-cde-resources-from-the-national-ffa.html

http://www.ideas4ag-ed.com/1/post/2010/10/free-cde-resources-from-the-national-ffa.html#comments

Uncategorized

This message is courtesy of Melissa Dunkel, CDE specialist for the National FFA:Past National CDE Materials Available – NO CHARGE!Are you training a career development event team? Win a $350
grant for classroom supplies by participating in our Teach Ag Poster Build!

If you’re not coming to convention, build the poster anyway and use it to
encourage your students to consider a career in agricultural education.
To participate:
We’ve taken our new Teach Ag poster and divided it into 8 pieces. We’ll
be emailing a piece or two each week until FFA Convention, or watch
Communities of Practice, the Teach Ag Facebook page, @NAAE on Twitter,
or the Teach Ag webpage for the pieces as well.
When a new piece is released, print it and hang it on your wall. Add each
successive piece, building a 22 in. x 34 in. poster. Use it as a tool to talk
with your students about all the possibilities that come with a career in
agricultural education.
If you’re coming to the FFA Convention, snap a photo of your completed
poster hanging in your classroom, and bring it to the NAAE Booth at
Teacher's World during the National FFA Convention. Show us the photo,
and we'll enter you in the drawing for the classroom supplies grant!
*You don't have to print the photo of your completed poster. You can just
take it with your phone, your iPod, your digital camera, or whatever you
have, and show us the image on the screen.

All of the pieces will be available for download below. As new pieces are
released, they will be added to the set.

<img src="http://www.weebly.com/weebly/images/file_icons/pdf.png" width="36" height="36" style="float: left; And, we know that the concept of "going green" has been a hot topic for a few years now. So, I am asking you to consider incorporating the "fundraising" and "green" ideas into one. With the beginning of the new school year fast approaching for most of us, there is no better time than right now to sign up for this FREE program, so it will be in place when the students arrive.

The FundingFactory is a recycling company that pays for empty ink jet printer cartridges, as well as laser printer cartridges and old cell phones. You can encourage your students to save their empty cartridges and start collecting from their family members, as well.

Additional benefits of the FundingFactory Fundraising Program:
• Free shipping supplies and 100% paid shipping
• Complete online account visibility to see the contents of each shipment, payment history, upcoming promotions and more
• Over 50 free customizable marketing materials
• World-class customer service representatives
• Countless contests and other promotions offering prizes such as iPods, pizza parties, digital cameras, die-cut equipment, color printers, movie tickets and others
• Top prices paid for used printer cartridges and cell phones • Providing used cartridges and cell phones for remanufacture or refurbishment so they are not dumped into the nation's landfills

Earning additional funds for your program can be as easy as holding a contest between your students in all of the ag classes that are taught in your school. Or, you can do what I am planning on for the new year, and that is offering extra credit for students that bring in any of the items mentioned above. The money raised from our students will be used to buy additional plaques for our awards banquet next spring. Below the logo is their brochure. Please take some time to read it and see if this free and easy way to raise supplemental funds is right for your FFA chapter. If so, please click on the logo or the link below it to sign up.

Thanks for reading,
Michael Southerland

http://www.fundingfactory.com/fundraiser-2421.aspx

funding_factory_brochure.pdf

File Size:

661 kb

File Type:

pdf

Download File

Tennessee CTE Conference Technology Workshop Powerpoint

http://www.ideas4ag-ed.com/1/post/2010/08/tennessee-cte-conference-technology-workshop-powerpoint.html

http://www.ideas4ag-ed.com/1/post/2010/08/tennessee-cte-conference-technology-workshop-powerpoint.html#comments

Uncategorized

Below, you will find the powerpoint that was created by Mr. Michael Coley for the technology-based workshop at the Tennessee CTE Conference a couple of weeks ago. But did you know FFA opportunities do not end after graduation? The National FFA Organization offers many programs and scholarships for these students as well as activities at national convention and connections to future employers for internships and full-time positions. Graduates can still benefit from these many FFA programs and are likely to be interested in volunteering and mentoring for their local chapters. That's why we've started a year-round FFA Beyond High School campaign to try and connect with these transitioning members. We want them to know that there are still many ways they can benefit from FFA, even after they've hung up their blue jackets.
For the first phase of this campaign, our goal is to get as many students as possible to sign up for the "FFA Beyond High School" e-newsletter. The e-newsletter will provide subscribers with information about scholarships, internships and Collegiate FFA and FFA alumni opportunities.
So, from now until June 30, any member over the age of 18 who signs up for the "FFA Beyond High School" e-newsletter will be entered into a drawing for an iPad. Help us get the word out to FFA advisors and members. Tell them to go to www.ffa.org/beyondhighschool to sign up for the e-newsletter.

Jeff Papke
Team Leader – Collegiate Programs
National FFA Organization
6060 FFA Drive
Indianapolis, IN 46268
317-802-4350 – Office
317-294-0896 – Cell
317-802-5350 - Fax
www.ffa.org/collegiate

Article on Supervised Agriculture Experiences

http://www.ideas4ag-ed.com/1/post/2010/04/article-on-supervised-agriculture-experiences.html

http://www.ideas4ag-ed.com/1/post/2010/04/article-on-supervised-agriculture-experiences.html#comments

Uncategorized

Via the link below, you will find a literature review and research paper that I wrote approximately one year ago concerning all aspects of supervised agriculture experience programs - the history, evolution, importance, decline & benefits.
